Origin Story

Andina Sol began with a simple truth: the best endurance fuel comes from real food. In Colombia, bocadillo has fueled athletes, farmers, and families for generations — a concentrated block of guava that delivers steady, natural energy. James discovered what Colombians already knew: real food is better fuel. Andina Sol was born at that intersection, honoring a tradition that works and the people who keep it alive.

Who We Are

Diana, a native Colombian, works directly with the producers who craft our bocadillo, preserving the tradition and ensuring every batch reflects the people behind it. James brings the athlete’s perspective: a former collegiate runner and Academic All‑American turned triathlete with multiple national‑level qualifications. Together, we’re building a brand that connects Colombian heritage with modern endurance performance.

We bring real food energy to modern endurance athletes.

Brian Tullis

Peak Performance Has No Age

"At this stage of life pushing myself is meditation. Masters track and hybrid fitness events like DEKA and Hyrox are outlets for that."

About Brian Tullis

Brian Tullis is a former Division I middledistance runner from the University of South Carolina who returned to competitive racing in his late 40s. At age 50, he set the men’s 50–54 agegroup world record in the 800 meters at the 2024 US Masters National Championships and then broke his own mark that summer at the World Masters Championships in Sweden, running 1:57.98. Now a worldranked agegroup DEKA athlete and preparing for HYROX, Brian balances elitelevel training with a demanding Csuite career and family life — proving that peak performance doesn’t have an age limit.

Davis Helmerich

Speed, Precision, and Progress

"Running was so much more than a sport to me in college. It gave me structure, an identity, and a built-in community."

About Davis Helmerich

Davis Helmerich is a former Division I middledistance runner who spent four years at the University of Missouri before completing his collegiate career at the University of Arkansas. In 2025, he won the SEC Outdoor Championship in the 1500 meters with a devastating finish — closing in 52.07 for the final lap and 1:52.96 over the last 800 meters. He went on to compete at the NCAA Championships and is part of the rare group of athletes to break the 4minute barrier in the mile. Davis continues to train and race today, extending his competitive range all the way up to the marathon.

Steve Schmid

Endurance for Life

"Running is my ‘me time’ to pound away any life frustrations with the miles. I am good at it as well and I am fortunate that I can still run without great pain. Many veterans lost the ability to even move on their own through service disabilities."

About Steve Schmid

Steve Schmid is a lifelong endurance athlete whose competitive arc spans more than four decades. A twotime qualifier for the NAIA National Cross Country Championships, he went on to compete for the U.S. Marine Corps marathon team for which he ran his best time of 2:32:39. While in service, he continued a running regimen through four deployments to the Middle East and was undefeated in ten road races, winning two marathons in times of 2:41 and 2:43. He now trains more than 70 miles a week in his 60s aiming for a lateyear marathon or firsttime ultra marathon — proof that endurance, for him, is a lifelong practice.
